Il progetto di Ricerca Industriale e Sviluppo sperimentale biennale, finanziato nell’ambito del POR Calabria (FESR-FSE 2014-2020 ASSE I – PROMOZIONE DELLA RICERCA E DELL’INNOVAZIONE), mette al centro il tema della sostenibilità ambientale e dell’economia circolare nei processi di produzione del caffè: un nuovo concetto di cialda e di capsula monodose.

Goals
“Coffee Pads” aims at the designing and at the prototyping of two new products to place on the monoportion coffee market. These innovative products do not require the use of plastic package and alluminium since they are 100% realized with bio- based, renewable and compostable materials, obtained from the scarps of the Calabrian agro-industrial production chain:
1) a pod that can be used both for mocha and for the pods espresso coffee machines
2) a capsule that can be used in the capsule coffee machines

The project is developed in several phases, each of which is characterized by specific goals.
Research Output
The development of project activities includes the following outputs:
1. Prototype zero of a new ecosustainable pod;
2. Prototype zero of a new eco-sustainable capsule;
3. Technology and production process for the realization of the new eco sustainable pod;
4. Technology and production process for the realization of the new eco sustainable capsule.
